Victoria, BC Dallas Road area
is an ideal spot in the summer for a walk, marine sightseeing,
picnics and in the winter the area is a popular gathering spot
for storm watching. The mostly paved waterfront walk way follows
the coastline all the way to the back door of Beacon Hill Park
and continues far beyond leading to sandy beaches.
The paved walkway is highly used by locals for
walking, jogging, cyclists and roller blading. Because the pathway
extends for miles there is amble opportunity along the route for
a picnic, occupy a viewing bench and/or pick a patch of grass
to spread out on.
The surrounding area attracts many extreme sports
enthusiasts like kite surfers, kayakers, scuba divers and it also
attracts hobbyist like kite flyers because of the sometimes strong
winds.
In the winter seasons the winds kick up a fuss
during storms and the waves crash over the barrier onto the streets.
Dallas Road has some waterfront parking, so on stormy days, one
can stay in the car and still enjoy the sights and sounds. Cars
covered in ocean mist will be parked on the street watching the
storms for hours and hours. |
