Many arrive on Vancouver Island in Sidney, BC via a BC Ferry riding a bicycle. Every day of the year, weather permitting, bikes are seen making there way to and from Victoria along the established highways or exploring along one of the many bike trails that criss-cross over the region. Victoria, BC is very cyclist friendly.

Many of the circle routes in Victoria are well used and maintained. A couple of the favorite rides in the area is the paved circle route along the Dallas Road waterfront through Beacon Hill Park into Oak Bay and back or explore the Galloping Goose Trail to Sooke.

Long haul riders like the day ride from Sidney into Brentwood Bay riding past farmers fields. The area is also a main point in multi day rides such as biking over Malahat Mountain venturing further up island enjoying the views of the Saanich Inlet along the way.

Downtown Victoria is special to cyclists as many shops have bike racks for security. There are rental and bike repair shops for convenience. it is very common to see bikes outside of a coffee house or restaurant during the day, as bikes are ridden everywhere. Summers fill the patio cafes with cyclists enjoying the sun outdoors.

The main streets and alley ways of Victoria, B.C. are mainly bike friendly with many having designated bike lanes. That still means wearing a bike helmet is a smart move in Victoria.
